Celebrating a Century— AND LOOKING AHEADWelcome to the Gainesville-Alachua County Associaon of REALTORS® Centennial Celebraon.This year marks 100 years since our associaon was founded—a milestone made possible by the passion, professionalism, and service of the REALTORS® who came before us and those who connue the work today. What began in 1925 with a handful of dedicated real estate professionals has grown into a strong, connected community that advocates for our industry, supports one another, and helps shape the future of Alachua County. Over the decades, our members have helped thousands of families nd their place here, while also contribung me, talent, and heart to the neighborhoods we call home. This memory book is a celebraon of all of that—and more. Inside, you’ll nd photos, stories, and reecons that highlight the people and moments that shaped GACAR over the past century. It’s a tribute to our collecve legacy and a reminder that the story of our associaon is sll being wrien.Thank you for being a part of this celebraon—and for being a part of GACAR’s history and future.Cheers, Lisa Baltozer 2025 President, Gainesville-Alachua County Associaon of REALTORS®

Our rOOts GACAR 100th Anniversary8FrOm DelinquenCy tO DeDiCatiOn: GACAR’S EARLY JOURNEY IN NATIONAL AFFILIATIONA lesser-known but notable chapter in GACAR’s history unfolded in the late 1920s, when the organizaon was known as the Gainesville Real Estate Board. At that me, its membership included professionals from Alachua, Levy, Gilchrist, and Dixie Counes.According to meeng minutes from January 22, 1929, in Pismo Beach, California, the Secretary of the Naonal Associaon of Real Estate Boards (NAREB) reported that the Board had not paid its 1928 dues. Formal noce was recommended: if unpaid aer ninety days, membership would be automacally revoked.Fortunately, this was only a temporary lapse. At the April 29–30, 1932 NAREB Board meeng in Chicago, the Gainesville Real Estate Board was ocially reinstated. A local Chicago newspaper noted the return and reported seven acve members—marking a renewed commitment to naonal engagement and professional standards. This moment in me reminds us: even in early challenges, the foundaon of today’s GACAR was built on persistence and purpose.
